Romantic Comedy Film Music Cue [1'42"]

‘Heather Meets Jack’ this cue is an homage to the quirky and fun music that is full of bounce and shifting harmonic keys that sustain interest and add variety. Using a wealth of textures, the orchestration first begins with pizzicatos against a piano solo in the bright key of D major. Descending clarinet runs take the ear down toward the next phase of the music which transitions toward a faster, more whimsical pace. The solo oboe then takes the music into a full orchestra ascending rush of sweeping broadness, giving the movement some contrast and a much-needed full orchestra embrace. This tutti section then leads to a magical trilling section in the strings and harp glissandos, as woodwinds play the soli melodic lines. French horns add roundness to the next section in the movement, as it twists to a high, rushing, sustained chord that quickly phases into a faster, pulsating series of light, modern chords that spritely give the energy to propel forward, once again, to the final section of the piece: a fast, eighth note pattern that bounces from 7/8 to a more stable and elegant piano statement, before a final, beautiful flourish takes the music towards it eventual calming final series of cadence chords in C major.
